If a page on your site does not load, an error message will be displayed to the website visitor. Because there are different errors, there are different pages that'll appear, but what's standard for all of them is that they're generic and almost certainly will have practically nothing in common with the design of your website, which may be aggravating for any visitor. This is the primary reason why web hosting service providers have introduced a feature referred to as Custom Error Pages. For a number of different errors, visitors shall see your custom content, which could be informative or humorous, based on your taste, and that will match the overall style and design of your site, so the pages will not look like they're not part of your Internet site at all. You could use this option for many errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).

Custom Error Pages in Shared Hosting

When you order a shared hosting from us, you shall be able to set personalized error pages for your sites easily and quickly, since this function is part of all of our packages. After you have created the files and uploaded them to your hosting account, you can check out the Hosted Domains section of your Hepsia Control Panel and click on the Edit button for the specific domain or subdomain. Inside the pop-up that will be displayed, you'll see drop-down options menus for all four sorts of errors and for each of them you can select an Apache default page, a generic page from our system or a tailor-made page. In case you select the 3rd option, you should just enter the URL to the file which you have uploaded and save the change. Another way to set personalized error pages is to create an .htaccess file in the domain or subdomain folder and to add a few lines of code in it. If you do not have previous experience or if you're just not sure how to do that, you may simply copy/paste the code from our Knowledge Base article on that matter.

Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you host your websites in a semi-dedicated server account with our company, you may set personalized error pages for each of them easily through our in-house developed Hepsia hosting Control Panel. With just several clicks inside the Hosted Domains section, you'll be able to modify the default setting from a system page to a tailor-made one for each of the four error types. All you need to do is supply a link to every single file that you have uploaded before that and then save the change. If needed, you will be able to revert this change whenever you want and in exactly the same way. If you prefer, you can use an .htaccess file too. It must be created/uploaded in the domain or subdomain folder related to the website whose error pages you would like to change and the content for such a file can be found in our Help article about this matter.
