Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, that is designed to prevent the so-called e-mail spoofing where an e-mail message can be sent from one email, but to seem as being sent from another one, usually with the objective to fraud the recipient in some way. When SPF protection is activated for a domain name, an exclusive record is generated for it in the Domain Name System and all DNS servers worldwide have it. The record includes all email servers that are allowed to send authentic messages from an e-mail address under the domain. When a message is sent, the very first DNS server it encounters checks the SPF record and in case the sending server is authorized, the message is forwarded to the target receiver. If, however, the sending server is not present in the SPF record for the given domain, the e-mail message won't be submitted and it'll be removed. If you use this solution, it will prevent third parties from sending spam messages which appear to have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Shared Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for every domain hosted in a shared hosting account on our cloud platform with only a couple of mouse-clicks. The function is available in the Emails section of our leading-edge Hepsia Control Panel and what is needed to activate it is to choose one of your domains from the drop-down menu and then type in the hostnames as well as the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers that will be certified to send emails from your email addresses. As an additional option you can also restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain only when it has our MX records, i.e. when our servers handle the e-mail addresses for it, not some third-party provider. This option will give you the highest standard of safety, but it is not applicable when only your website is on our servers while the emails for the domain are managed in a different place. Either way, our SPF protection service will keep your emails protected from being used for spam and scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you host your domain names in a semi-dedicated server account from us, you will be able to use the SPF protection feature as a part of the standard set of services that you will have with this type of hosting. Activating the protection will involve only several easy steps inside the Hepsia Control Panel, so that even if you've never used such a function before, you won't have any kind of troubles. Employing an exceptionally easy to work with interface, you will only need to type in the info of the mail server that will be permitted to send messages from your addresses - its hostname ( and IP address (IPv4 or IPv6). Once the recently generated record propagates, no one will be able to forge any email for that particular domain name and send email messages from a server different from the one you've typed in. This doesn't necessarily have to be our mail server, but in case we manage your email messages, you are able to activate an extra level of security by selecting an option that emails can be send out from addresses only in the event that the domain uses our MX records. Our tech support team can assist you 24/7 if you have any kind of questions related to this service.
