SSH, or Secure Shell, is a network protocol that is used to connect to a server and carry out various tasks via a command line. The protocol is employed by many expert users, because the info transmitted over it is encrypted, so it can't be intercepted on the way by a third party. SSH access may be used for a number of things depending on the type of Internet hosting account. With a shared hosting account, for example, SSH is one of the ways to import/export a database or to upload a file in case the hosting server allows for it. In case you have a virtual or a dedicated server, SSH may be used for pretty much anything - you can install software or restart particular services including the web server or the database server which run on the machine. SSH is employed typically with UNIX-like Systems, but there are clients that allow you to employ the protocol if your computer system is working with a different Operating System as well. The connection is established on TCP port 22 by default and the remote web server always listens for incoming connections on that port even though a number of service providers change it for security reasons.

SSH Telnet in Shared Hosting

SSH access is available with all shared hosting which we offer you. With some of them, it's included as standard, while with others it is an additional upgrade that you can include with a couple of clicks in your web hosting Control Panel. You could get SSH access from the section dedicated to it in which you shall also find the information which you need to connect - the host, the port number and the username. You may select the password that you'll use and, if necessary, you will be able to modify it with a couple of clicks from the same spot. All of the commands that may be used with our shared packages are listed inside a help article together with relevant instances. If the SSH access feature is permitted for your account, you will also be able to upload files through your preferred FTP client via an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers

All our semi-dedicated server accounts provide you with the possibility to access and control them via SSH. If the plan that you have selected incorporates this function by default, you just have to enable the SSH access feature via the corresponding section of the Hepsia CP. If the function is listed as an optional upgrade, you could quickly add it using the Add Services/Upgrades link inside the Hepsia CP and it will be available within a minute. We have a number of help articles and video tutorials about the use of SSH commands to handle your account and a full list of the commands which you can execute along with several examples to give you a better idea of what you can do. If SSH is active, you'll also be able to set up an SFTP connection to the account and to upload files safely using any FTP application which supports the feature.

SSH Telnet in VPS Servers

The VPS server packages that we offer come with SSH access by default, not as an additional upgrade or a function which you must activate. As soon as your new server is prepared, you shall be able to connect and begin working on your content using the login details that you have entered throughout the order procedure. A copy of the SSH credentials will be sent to you via e-mail too. Because your VPS will be isolated from the other ones on the physical server, there aren't any limitations regarding what you can or can't do through SSH. You can download, install and manage any piece of software that will run on a Linux web server, reboot the whole server or only a particular software component, and work with files, folders and databases without any restrictions. All you will need for this is a console or an SSH client on your end.
